This year’s Messinia Pro-Am attracted top PGA professionals, celebrities, and amateurs from 23 countries to take part in this world-class event which is known as Europe’s second-biggest Pro-Am with a total prize fund of €50 000.

Following up on the great success of the 2017 & 2018 Pro-Am’s next year’s event will be bigger, better with more international teams competing with golfers once again having access to real-time updates from other teams or individual scores connected directly to there golf buggies thanks to the new #MessiniaProAm Live Score Service.
44 professionals and 132 amateur golfers enjoyed the sunshine and lush Messinian surroundings, playing golf amongst hundred-year-old olive trees at the award-winning signature golf courses, The Dunes Course and The Bay Course, with stunning views of the Ionian Sea and the historic Bay of Navarino.
Hosted at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, this year’s Messinia Pro-Am 2018 showcased strong competition, which led to impressive results, including two hole-in-ones from Stuart Boyle (PGA Great Britain & Ireland) and John Radzioch (German amateur).
The tournament was highly competitive with a number of fluctuations at the golfers’ ranking, up until the last minute. Ultimately, the German professional Philipp Mejow (PGA Germany) was crowned champion of the 2nd Messinia Pro-Am, leaving Israeli Asaf Cohen (PGA Israel) in 2nd place, after a hotly contested playoff. Third place was shared between Christos Nikopoulos (PGA Greece) and Stuart Boyle (PGA Great Britain & Ireland).
“I am so happy and proud because I put in a lot of work during the winter,” said Mejow. “It’s been a long time since I won my last tournament, so I’m really happy to begin the season like this. I will try to be back next year, because Costa Navarino is one of the most beautiful places I know.”
In other categories, on the last day of the tournament, Austrian Gunther Ausserdorfer stood out for the best performance at The Bay Course and, respectively, Romanian Ciprian Zavloschi for best performance at The Dunes Course.
Costa Navarino has established itself as the gold standard for golf tournaments and was voted as the European Golf Resort of the Year 2017. This year more than 35 teams, from 14 countries, will compete in three rounds at the two 18-hole signature golf courses; the Bay Course which offers an alternative set of challenges and choices against the backdrop of serene sea views, and the Dunes Course which is the first championship golf course in Greece.
Costa Navarino is also known for its Messenian cultural authenticity and a rich programme of cultural events, cooking classes and other entertainment – especially organized for attendees – are just some of the things to look forward to during the tournament while the thematic gastronomy nights with signature dishes will be the cherry on top at this year’s Messinia Pro-Am.
